Van Devender's music is sometimes best described as 'George Winston meets
Elton John.'  His solo performances often take an improvisational journey
sending the listener through a timeless wave of inspired spontaneous melody
never before heard.  It is these moments of spontaneous inspiration that
have delighted audiences as they witness his music's continuous evolution.

His piano melodies have been described as "a blending of classical, jazz and
rock influences with a touch of soul."   'Bending Chords' (2002) picks up
where 'Ascend' (1998) left off, adding new elements to the blend.  Listen as
you are transported to another time and place.

Van Devender can be found every week playing piano throughout the Rocky
Mountains of Colorado in churches and major resort hotels as well as the
occasional featured piano concert.  If given the opportunity, he is not to
be missed.

Since Sept. 11, 2003, proceeds from the sale of all JavaMusiK releases -

firefighter memorial fund.
This decision was reinforced after Van Devender's chance meeting with 3 of
the 4 surviving members of FDNY Rescue #4 in early October 2003.

A copy of Bending Chords with Storm King Sacrifice was recently sent to each
of the families who lost someone in this trajedy.  Many beautiful responses
have been received from the families since.
Storm King Sacrifice was written at the base of Storm King Mountain, where,
in 1994 Van Devender witnessed the terrible trajedy of 14 firefighters
losing their lives in a fierce battle with the elements.  (The cover photo
for 'Bending Chords" was taken on the banks of the Colorado River on the day
of the 'Coal Seam Fire' in Western Colorado, near Van Devender's home.)
